Guide
MBBS abroad admission process, month by month
From NEET to your first class abroad takes about five months. Here is what happens and when, for the September intake.
- January – April
Get ready
Apply for a passport if the student doesn't have one; it should be valid for at least 18 months beyond the travel date. Keep Class 10 and 12 marksheets ready.
- May
Take NEET
NEET UG is mandatory for every Indian student who wants to study medicine abroad.
- June
Check NEET result
You need the qualifying percentile for your category. The score stays valid for three years.
- June – July
Shortlist and apply
We match universities to your score and budget, confirm fees in writing and submit the application with scanned documents. Some universities hold a short online entrance test.
- July – August
Admission and invitation letter
The university issues the admission letter, then the invitation or visa-support letter needed for the visa. This can take several weeks, so early applications move first.
- August
Apostille, translation and medical tests
Documents are apostilled by the Ministry of External Affairs and translated where required. The student takes the medical tests the embassy asks for.
- August – September
Visa
We file the student visa application with the embassy or visa centre.
- September
Fly with the group
Students travel together with a staff member and are received at the airport.
- September – October
Arrive and start classes
Registration, medical check, visa extension and hostel allotment, then classes start.
