Karnataka has 3,500 seats in 22 government colleges and 9,045 seats in 51 private colleges (2025).

Who can apply

Govt seats ('G', including govt-quota seats in private colleges) need Karnataka eligibility, typically 7+ years of study in Karnataka or other listed clauses.

Private college seats: Non-Karnataka candidates cannot take 'G' (government) seats but can apply through KEA for 'P' (private/management) and 'Q' (others) seats in private colleges on NEET rank; NRI seats are for NRI/OCI candidates.

• Private colleges: ₹1,53,571 (govt quota in private colleges) – ₹12,00,117 (private quota); deemed private quota ₹16.3 – ₹25.15 lakh; NRI/Others ₹27.1 – ₹44.1 lakh a year
• Security deposit: Course-fee deposit at option entry (2026 stray round): G ₹1,00,000; P ₹12,00,117; N/Q ₹25,00,000

Service bond

Karnataka's 2012 compulsory-service Act requires 1 year of govt service after the course (referenced in KEA brochure); penalty amount for MBBS not confirmed.

2026: registration from 17 Jul to 7 Aug; Round 1 option entry 7–13 Aug, allotment 27 Aug; Round 2 allotment 16 Sep; Round 3 allotment 6 Oct; stray round result 22 Oct, reporting 22–25 Oct.
