Russia and Kyrgyzstan send more Indian students abroad for medicine than almost anywhere else. Both teach in English and both lead to the same FMGE exam, but they suit different families.

Choose Russia if
- you want a government university with a long history; many were founded before 1940;
- your budget is about ₹24 lakh or more;
- you are ready for a cold winter.
Choose Kyrgyzstan if
- your budget is closer to ₹20–25 lakh;
- you want a short flight home;
- you may need the February intake.
Watch out for
In Kyrgyzstan, universities quote fees for years 1 to 5 and charge a half-year fee for the internship year; our totals include an estimate of it. Several private Kyrgyz universities are less than ten years old and have no long FMGE record yet.
