How to order a choice list

  1. Start with colleges you'd really join. MCC never "wastes" a choice: if your rank doesn't reach a college, it moves to the next one on your list.
  2. Put your favourites first, even if their 2026 seats closed before your rank. Cutoffs move every year and in every round.
  3. Then add realistic and safe choices. A list with only dream colleges can leave you without a seat in Round 1.
  4. Don't add a college you wouldn't join. If you get it, you have to decide between joining and losing the seat, and some rounds forfeit your security deposit.
  5. Check the round rules (free exit, upgrade, deposit) in the MCC information bulletin before you lock your choices.

Data: MCC NEET-UG 2026 allotment lists (Rounds 1, 2, 3 and stray). "2026 last rank" is the highest All India Rank given a new seat in any round for your category. Marks are converted to rank with the 2026 marks–rank curve, so ranks are approximate. This tool doesn't submit anything to MCC: you still fill your choices on mcc.nic.in.

How many choices should I fill in MCC counselling?

There's no limit and no penalty for filling many choices, so most students fill a long list: every college they would actually join, in the order they prefer them. MCC goes down your list and gives you the first one your rank and category can get.

Should I put my dream college first even if my rank is low?

Yes, if you would really join it. MCC checks your choices in order, so a dream college at the top costs you nothing: if your rank doesn't reach it, MCC simply moves to your next choice. Just don't leave out realistic colleges.

What does 'Upgrade' mean in Round 2?

If you join your Round 1 seat and opt for upgradation, MCC can move you to a college higher on your list in Round 2. If it does, your Round 1 seat is released. Read the MCC rules for each round before choosing 'free exit' or 'upgrade'.

Is this list based on real data?

Yes. The closing ranks come from MCC's official 2026 allotment lists for Rounds 1, 2, 3 and the stray round. 2027 cutoffs will differ, so use them as a guide.
