MCC security deposit 2026: amounts, forfeiture and refund
Every point below links to its official source.
Key facts
- For deemed universities, every candidate pays a Rs 5,000 non-refundable registration fee plus a Rs 2,00,000 refundable security deposit. [1]
- For AIQ, central universities (DU, AMU, BHU, Jamia), AFMC, ESI, AIIMS, JIPMER and B.Sc Nursing, UR/EWS candidates pay a Rs 1,000 registration fee and a Rs 10,000 deposit (Rs 11,000 total). [1]
- For the same institutions, SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates pay a Rs 500 registration fee and a Rs 5,000 deposit (Rs 5,500 total). [1]
- A candidate applying for both government seats and deemed universities pays only the higher amount, i.e. the deemed university fee of Rs 5,000 plus Rs 2,00,000. [1]
- The deposit is forfeited if the candidate does not join a seat allotted in Round 2 or a later round, or if the admission is cancelled for any reason, such as wrong information or missing documents. [1]
- Deposits are refunded only after all rounds are over. HLL Lifecare Ltd, the financial custodian, starts refunds within 15 working days and completes them within 30 days of MCC publishing the eligible list. [1]
- The refund goes only to the same card or bank account the deposit came from, and MCC will not redirect it to another account. Candidates should keep that account active. [1]
- MCC pays no interest on the deposit and does not refund bank charges. [1]
- Fees cannot be paid from an NRI (NRE) account. Funds must be moved to an NRO account first, and any refund is credited to the NRO account. [1]
- MCC asks candidates not to raise chargeback claims with their card issuer, because that blocks the direct refund and causes long delays. [1]

Who do I contact about refund problems?
