Every point below links to its official source.

Key facts

  1. Since 2020, NEET UG has been the qualifying entrance exam for MBBS at AIIMS and JIPMER, under Section 14(1) of the NMC Act, 2019, even though these institutes have their own statutes. [1]
  2. MCC counsels 100% of MBBS seats at all AIIMS institutions across four rounds (1, 2, 3 and stray). [2]
  3. AIIMS seats follow central reservation (SC 15%, ST 7.5%, OBC-NCL 27%, EWS 10%, PwD 5% horizontal), and AIIMS also has foreign national seats open only to OCI, PIO and foreign national candidates. [2]
  4. AIIMS seats are domicile-free, but each AIIMS's own eligibility conditions also apply. [2]
  5. For AIIMS, PwBD reservation is subject to evaluation by the institute's medical board. [1]
  6. MCC also counsels JIPMER Puducherry and Karaikal: open seats are for all India, while domicile seats go to candidates on the Puducherry list supplied by the UT's health directorate. [2]
  7. Puducherry domicile can be proved in several ways, including five years' continuous residence of the candidate or a parent before the NEET application deadline, or five continuous years of schooling in the UT leading up to the qualifying exam. [2]
  8. Common counselling for MBBS/BDS at INIs is run by DGHS on the schedule in the Graduate Medical Education Regulations. [1]
