Under the NCH BHMS Regulations, 2022, BHMS lasts five years and six months: First Professional of 18 months, Second, Third and Fourth Professional of 12 months each, and a 12-month compulsory rotatory internship. The NCH regulations require the full BHMS course, including internship, to be completed within a maximum of ten years. The National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH) regulates BHMS through the Homoeopathy Graduate Degree Course (BHMS) Regulations, 2022, amended by the BHMS Amendment Regulations, 2025 (gazette dated 6 January 2025).

Eligibility

  • BHMS eligibility is 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology and at least 50% in PCB for general category (40% for SC/ST/OBC, 45% for general PwD), and candidates from open school or as private candidates are not eligible.
  • A BHMS candidate must be at least 17 years old on or before 31 December of the admission year and must score at least the 50th percentile in NEET (UG) (40th for SC/ST/OBC).

How seats are split

BHMS seats are 15% All India Quota and 85% state quota, but deemed universities fill 100% of seats through central counselling. The All India and deemed seats are counselled by AACCC (Ministry of Ayush); the rest by each state.

AACCC's revised UG 2026-27 schedule (26 Oct 2026) puts Round 3 reporting at 26-31 Oct 2026, Stray Vacancy Round-I registration at 3-9 Nov 2026 with result on 12 Nov, and SVR-II result on 24 Nov 2026.

Before internship and registration

  • The 2025 amendment says a BHMS student can join the compulsory internship only after passing all subjects from the First to Fourth Professional exams, including six electives, and getting provisional registration from the State Board or Council.
  • According to Kerala CEE's KEAM 2026 prospectus, interns who joined BHMS internship on or after 29 Nov 2023 must take the National Exit Test under the NCH (National Examinations in Homoeopathy) Regulations, 2023 before they can register as practitioners.
  • NCH has notified regulations for preparing and maintaining a National Register for Practitioners of Homoeopathy (2022).
