Every point below links to its official source.

Key facts

  1. When two or more candidates have equal NEET UG 2026 marks or percentiles, ties are broken first by higher marks/percentile in Biology (Botany and Zoology). [1]
  2. If still tied, the candidate with higher marks/percentile in Chemistry ranks higher, then the one with higher marks in Physics. [1]
  3. Next, the candidate with the lower ratio of incorrect to correct answers across all subjects ranks higher. [1]
  4. If still tied, the lower incorrect-to-correct ratio is compared in Biology, then Chemistry, then Physics. [1]
  5. If all these criteria are exhausted, the tie is settled by a random process guided by an independent expert committee. [1]
  6. These rules follow NMC/UGMEB's public notice dated 13.06.2023 and an NMC email dated 28.01.2026. [1]
  7. NTA gives only the All India Rank; counselling authorities draw up category merit lists from it. [1]
