PwD (PwBD) quota in NEET counselling 2026
Every point below links to its official source.
Key facts
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities get 5% horizontal reservation within each category (GEN, EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST) in MCC counselling. [1]
- A candidate needs a benchmark disability of at least 40% under the RPwD Act, 2016 to claim PwBD reservation for MBBS. [2]
- PwBD candidates must hold a valid Permanent UDID card from the DEPwD, Ministry of Social Justice; it is the main proof of the disability. [2]
- To get PwD seats in MCC counselling, candidates must obtain an Eligibility Certificate from one of MCC's designated Medical Assessment Boards. They bring their NEET 2026 scorecard, Permanent UDID card and NMC-format affidavits; only certificate holders are shown PwD seats. [2]
- MCC's 2026 list of Medical Assessment Boards includes AIIPMR Mumbai (locomotor only), ABVIMS-RML, LHMC New Delhi, SMS Jaipur, KGMU Lucknow, AIIMS Nagpur, AIIMS Bhopal, JIPMER and others across states. [2]
- The Medical Assessment Board judges functional competency itself and does not rely only on the percentage on the UDID card. [2]
- The PwD eligibility certificate is valid only for the current academic session. A fake UDID or affidavit leads to seat cancellation and legal action. [2]
- A candidate found ineligible can appeal by email (disabilityappeal-chair@gov.in, disabilityappeal-convener@gov.in) before their round starts. The five appellate boards are VMMC-Safdarjung, Grant Medical College-JJ Mumbai, BHU, Madras Medical College and IPGMER Kolkata. [2]
- Vacant PwD seats are converted to the same category's general seats in Round 3 (for example SC-PwD to SC). [2]
